Frequently asked questions

How do I contact the Ausländerbehörde Oberhausen?

Address: Bahnhofstraße 66, 46145 Oberhausen. Phone: +49 208 825-7887. E-mail: fachbereich.auslaenderangelegenheiten@oberhausen.de. Opening hours as published by the office: Hotline wochentags 08:00–12:00 Uhr; Vorsprachen nur nach vorheriger Terminvereinbarung.

How do I get an appointment at the Ausländerbehörde Oberhausen?

The office gives appointments online on its own website: https://tevis.krzn.de/tevisweb360/select2?md=17

My residence permit expires and I have no appointment yet. What applies?

The application counts, not the appointment: if you apply for the extension before the permit expires, it is deemed to continue until the office decides (§ 81 (4) AufenthG). Apply in a way you can prove, for example in writing or through the office’s online form.

Is the immigration office also responsible for naturalisation?

Not everywhere. The naturalisation certificate is issued by the citizenship authority (§ 16 StAG); which body that is locally is decided by the federal state. In many places it is a different office.
